Samsung releases Galaxy S10 smartphones and folding screen smartphone

Samsung has announced the upcoming release of its new series of Galaxy S10 smartphones, the Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+ models.  New features include Dynamic AMOLED display, improved wireless charging speeds and ultrasonic on-screen fingerprint sensor for Galaxy S10 and S10+ models.

Samsung will also release Galaxy Fold, its first smartphone with a folding screen. This smartphone has a 7.3 inch Infinity Flex Display that unfolds to form a tablet interface.

New wearable fitness devices Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Fit that can monitor your heart rate will also be available soon.   Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare technology can charge wirelessly between smartphones and accessories.

Update: the Samsung Galaxy Fold folding smartphone was finally released for public sale in September 2019.

Google releases new accessibility apps Live Transcribe and Sound Amplifier

Google has announced the release of accessibility apps Live Transcribe and Sound Amplifier to help users with hearing issues.

Live Transcribe transcribes live audio in real time using Google’s speech recognition technology.  This feature is installed on Pixel 3 smartphones under the Accessibility settings and will soon be available in a limited beta release to users worldwide via the Google Play Store.

Sound Amplifier amplifies microphone sounds while reducing unwanted or distracting background noises and is available now at Google Play.
