Gmail Go is a lightweight mail app that was previously available only on devices running the Android Go operating system, but now it is available for all Android users. Not all features in the Gmail app are currently in the Gmail Go, such as Google Meet.

Microsoft Office free apps for smartphones and tablets with 10.1 inch or smaller screen
Microsoft Office apps such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are available as free downloads for iOS , Android and Windows smartphones and tablets that have a screen size of 10.1 inches or smaller. Users can view, edit and create new Office format files with these free apps once they login with a Microsoft user account, but they must subscribe to Office 365 to unlock all app functionality. Free web brower versions of Office apps are also available for users logged into OneDrive.
Students and teachers with a valid school email address are also eligible for the free Office 365 Education version.
Apple device users can run the iWork productivity apps, which includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Office Apps for Windows 10 Mobile will no longer be supported by Microsoft as of January 12, 2021.
Opera web browser includes free VPN
Opera is currently testing its free VPN service in its Opera for Android browser. Free VPN is currently available for the Windows and Mac desktop versions of Opera for extra privacy when browsing the web, and it is especially useful when connected to public Wi-Fi networks.
Excel for Android beta feature allows you to insert data from photo
Microsoft is currently testing a new Excel for Android feature that will allow you to take a picture of data with your phone or tablet and paste the photo’s data into an Excel worksheet. Insert Data from Picture is currently being tested by select Office Insider users.
Google releases new accessibility apps Live Transcribe and Sound Amplifier
Google has announced the release of accessibility apps Live Transcribe and Sound Amplifier to help users with hearing issues.
Live Transcribe transcribes live audio in real time using Google’s speech recognition technology. This feature is installed on Pixel 3 smartphones under the Accessibility settings and will soon be available in a limited beta release to users worldwide via the Google Play Store.
Sound Amplifier amplifies microphone sounds while reducing unwanted or distracting background noises and is available now at Google Play.
Samsung announces future release of folding screen smartphone
Samsung announced the future release of its new smartphone folding screen technology called Samsung Infinity Flex Display at its 2018 Developer conference. The screen folds in the middle like a book and phones using this feature may be released in 2019 or later.
Airtable is a cloud based hybrid of spreadsheets and databases
Airtable is a cloud database that allows users to design databases in a spreadsheet-like format. It allows collaboration with multiple users and can be accessed from MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices. Multiple templates are available to download including calendars, project management, etc.
Airtable can be accessed for free for databases smaller than 1200 records. Paid versions with additional features are also available.
FEMA app for iPhone and Android
The FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) app for iPhone, iPad, and Android is free and includes weather alerts, emergency shelter information, preparation tips, and disaster resource information. This app may be downloaded from iTunes or from the Google Play Store.
